CHILDREN AND YOUTH MINISTRY
At Grace we value the spiritual development of all people and we realize that spiritual development begins at birth. We strive to create meaningful opportunities for our children and youth to connect with God, themselves, and their neighbors. We hope that as a church we can be a place of refuge and comfort in an ever changing world.
NURSERY
Sundays, 9:30am-11:30am
Nursery is provided every Sunday morning, year-round, during the Sunday School hour and during worship for children birth through 5 years old. We realize that for caregivers it can be difficult to immerse yourself in the service with little ones. During the worship hour, a Bible story is read with a coordinating craft or activity, a snack, and the children are brought over to the sanctuary for Holy Eucharist. However, infants and children are always welcome in the service! This is their house of worship too!
SUNDAY SCHOOL
September-May, 9:30am-10:15am
Sunday School runs September-May, from 9:30am-10:15am downstairs in our parish hall for children PreK – 5th grade. Age-appropriate activities and lessons are designed to help our children learn more about the Bible, their faith, and the church community.
SIP AND SHARE
2nd Wednesday of the Month, 4:00pm, September-May
Sip & Share is a monthly gathering of our Middle and High Schoolers with our Children and Youth Minister, Brittany Deal. It is a time of fellowship, meaningful conversation, and of course coffee and snacks! They typically meet at Thornwell Books.
ACOLYTES
Acolytes at Grace help to ensure a smooth service and assist in worship by carrying the processional cross, lighting candles, and performing other duties as requested by the Deacon or Rector. Becoming an acolyte is a great way for our children and youth to get involved and to learn more about Episcopal worship.
CREATION SPACE
Wednesdays, 5:00pm-6:00pm, September-May
Creation Space is a weekly program combining faith and art for kids preschool through 5th grade. Children's books are used to relate to different scripture and then different artistic mediums are used to expand on the books and scripture read. Our guiding verse for the program is "In The Beginning God Created...". Artists we have studied include Georgia O'Keefe, Chris Uphues, Jackson Polluck, and more.
In addition to these reoccurring opportunities, we offer other exciting events for various ages such as Backpack Blessing, Christmas Pageant, Pancake Supper, Easter Egg Hunt, Camp Christbound, Fifth Sunday Fellowship Activities, Movie Nights, and more!
"Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity."
